“…there are many sham diamonds in this life which pass for real, and vice versa, many real diamonds which go unvalued.”
– W.M. Thackeray

It’s high praise to say someone is genuine- the Real Thing!  We can use the image of jewelry when we talk about an individual’s character.  “Jane Doe is pure gold”!  The qualities of beauty and rarity make gems precious to us.  And so, to describe people, we can assume that real personal worth is equally beautiful and equally rare.  We all have it within our grasp.  And, I’m sure we can all agree on the valuable character traits: honesty, loyalty, openness, courage, humor, and the capacity to love.  Everyone can have them, everyone does have them…Imitations just won’t do!  I need to stop worrying about whether someone else’s qualities are genuine.  I know what I admire, and I have plenty of work to do “polishing” my own.
I was at A Line Boutique (again!!!) and fell in love with the Dannijo jewelry they had on display.  Prices range between $195.00-$895.00.

Other jewelry lines I drool over are…
The New York based hard-edge look of Lynn Ban.

The Los Angeles based contemporary jewelry of Anita Ko.
“I want my jewelry to make a woman feel good and shine from the inside out”.

The weight, edge, and bespoke factor of Jennifer Fisher.

We all have our unique beauty, and I need to believe that we are all “diamonds in the rough”.  I have always seen myself through other people’s eyes.  I have spent every single second of my life as a prisoner of what people think of me and had absolutely no concept of myself.  I was always fighting to get people to like me.  But why don’t I stop worrying about how everyone else feels about me and start concentrating on myself- on my own unique light I can shine on others?  It’s unacceptable to spend the rest of my life wishing I was anyone but me.
Anthony Hopkins stated it perfectly,
“My philosophy is: It’s none of my business what people say of me and think of me.  I am what I am and I do what I do.  I expect nothing and accept everything.  And it makes life so much easier.”

So put on those spectacular Dolce & Gabbana gilded cat eye sunglasses and bask in the glow of everyone’s bright light!
Or…just go for the cheaper version…the Ray Ban.
